Title – Julius Caesar
Characters with synopsis –
Brutus – Brutus believes that there should be a group of
people in power, instead of one person. He is worried that Julius Caesar wants
that power. Some of Caesars enemies trick Brutus, and he truly believes that
killing Julius will benefit Rome.
Julius Caesar – Caesar was a great Roman general, even
though Brutus thinks that Julius wants power, there is no indication that he
really does.
Antony – Antony is a friend of Caesars, but he buys into
Brutus’ theory that Rome would be better off in Caesar is dead, later on while
at Caesars funeral he talk to the audience and basically says that Brutus is
wrong, and he is a traitor.
Cassius – Cassius was also a Roman general, but he does not
like how Julius has become like a god. He manage to persuade Brutus, that
killing Caesar would benefit Rome, and that Caesar wanted power.
Octavius – Octavius is Caesars adopted son and appointed
successor, he had been travelling lots, and when he came back, he finds out his
dad is dead. He and Antony fight Cassius, and Brutus
Casca – Casca is a public figure who believes that Caesar
only wants power, he can relate to Brutus, and Cassius, he thinks that Caesar
is an actor, who is trying to get the public’s support by declining the crown.
History – The history around that play is mainly about the
Roman empire. In this time there would have been many struggles for power over
the roman empire Because it was just starting out and it would soon become the
biggest and strongest empire in the world, and would soon rule most of Europe,
at this time, the Roman Empire would have been involved in quite a few wars,
and people would have been panicking over the future of the Roman Empire
Story synopsis – Brutus’s wife, Portia, enters the garden. She wonders what
has been worrying Brutus. He says that he has felt unwell. She asks why he
refuses to tell her his concerns. Brutus replies that he wishes he were worthy
of such an honourable wife. They hear a knock at the door, and Brutus sends her
away with a promise to talk to her later.
